HORSE THE BAND looking for new drummer (after the end of the Tour)
HORSE THE BAND will require the services of a new drummer as soon as this leg of their ‘EARTH TOUR’ ends early in June. If you think you can handle it then read on…
,
hey guys,
,
Two months into EARTH TOUR we’re still alive and having the best time of our lives pussies. Yeah we toured in fucking China and Korea and Serbia and Belarus and Romania, drove through Moldova, swam in the Black Sea, Red Sea, Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and almost got killed in Transnistria (look it up).
,
Also, we’re working through footage while on the road and we posted two videos on YouTube so far, Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand is better. Australia we were still kind of feeling out our editing style… you know how it is.
,
AUSTRALIA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkLGJceRams

NEW ZEALAND: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJB6veJBb48
,
ALSO
,
Unfortunately Jon, our rental drummer from the Number 12 Looks Like You, needs to go back to perform duties for his real band, so as soon as we get back from the Earth we’ll be starting to audition new drummers.
,
Obviously you have to be a pretty special character to join this band. We’d prefer someone familiar with the HORSE THE BAND lore, but also normal. You have to have touring experience in really horrible conditions (picking up skin diseases from sleeping on floors, being rejected by ugly chicks, not sleeping for 60 hours or more), not think you are cool, not be way into sitting on your laptop in the “green room”, and be a really good drummer. We want someone who can play all sorts of styles really well and prefer someone who keeps it simple sounding while musically compelling and interesting and energetic.
,
We’re heading to South America and Africa in the fall and will do a full US/Canada tour in the summer. You’ll make more money than working your job at home. You have to know you wanna tour a lot and don’t mind being away from the USA for long periods of time.
,
If you’re interested send us an email with youtube links to you playing these 3 songs: Hyperborea, Cutsman, and Sex Raptor. That pretty much covers all the territory you need to know. h2theb@gmail.com
,
If you wanna include bio stuff and pictures that’s fine too. Being black and a girl would be a huge plus. But not necessary.
The raw rock ‘n Roll sound is going down a storm with all who hear it and with a busy schedule behind the scenes as well as putting together some venues for a tour this scottish act is turning heads. Hand Of Dog not only put together some blistering rock but the lyrics are also an important part of each song which is why the band not only play the tunes on their website for all to hear but they allow people to read the lyrics which shows that the band are being relevent with where they are at.
It’s an album that towers over the majority of today’s rock bands and will ensure Brigade catapult into the major playing field. ,

Every ounce a contender for the rock album of 2008, ‘Come Morning We Fight’ is a maniacal masterpiece of sure rock hits. ‘What Are You Waiting For’ is a bold opening statement of intent: punchy, dynamic and raunchy. Firsts ‘Pilot’ is an infectious and atmospheric heart-wrenching ditty, while ‘Slow Dives & Alibis’ illustrates the band’s pow musical complexities and frantic hard-hitting drive. Ensuring maximum diversity, ‘Sink Sink Swim’ is a somber and uplifting, unashamed pop song. ,Recorded at Monnow Valley Studio (where luminaries such as Led Zeppelin, Biffy Clyro, and Manic Street Preach amongst many have recorded), Brigade enlisted the skills of Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Feeder. Oceansize) to record and produce this magnificent opus. The icing on the cake saw this beauty being mastered in New York at Sterling Sound by Steve Fallone (The Strokes, TVOn The Radio, Kim Gordon). ,

But strip this scenario down, take away the name-dropping, and you’re still left with an incredible and extraordinar primary ingredient — a truly inspirational band. ,While 2006’s ‘Lights’ was a debut from a band who were tentatively finding their own feet and direction, ‘Come Morning We Fight’ is testament to a group who have assertively honed their sound, challenged themselves as musicians, dared to experiment outside the norm, and taken immense strides forward in their outlook. ,

For the first time in their career Brigade united as songwriters, ensuring that every song was created as a team ef and all voices were heard. ,Says frontrnan Will Simpson: “We have aimed to write songs that will stand the test of time and sit up there with the best of what British rock music has to offer. This album has been a massive challenge, we’ve pushed ourselves to I limits in every way. We’ve worked with one of the world’s best producers with a track record that we all, as a band, aspire to ait alongside. We truly believe we have accomplished what we set out to do.” ,Lyrically, Simpson has expanded his horizons to explore uncharted territories, giving ‘Come Morning…’ a broader universal edge. ,“I’ve tried to step out of my own experiences for the first time and try to comment on other people’s lives and brand into darker areas.
The band have also welcomed the addition of new drummer Andrew Kearton, who replaced original sticksman Nathaniel Finbow. By Simpson’s own admission the change has transformed Brigade from a bunch of musicians in a “complete unit”. ,“I can’t believe how seamlessly Andrew has fitted in and it feels like we’ve known him for years.
THE BRIGHTLIGHTS - ‘3′
,
Released on Distiller Records on 16th June 2008

,
‘3′ is the cracking new single from Grimsby’s finest, The Brightlights. Produced by Steve Power - best known for producing all of Robbie Williams’ (good) albums - it’s full of teenage angst and emotion whose subject matter is girls who take advantage of any and every situation in a relationship (you know who you are). Intricately driven licks and heart rendering drums highlight singer Leon Blanchard’s startlingly magnetic voice that sounds like a sonic marriage between Kelly Jones and Caleb Followill. The single also features ‘Another Night’, a rousing anthem detailing that age old dilemma - mates versus girlfriend and the consequences of both - that twists and turns and builds to an emotionally driven climax.
,
The video, directed by Jay Burridge who won a CAD for his art direction on Hot Chip’s ‘Boy From School’, was shot on an empty Pyramid Stage on a cold March day on Worthy Farm.
,

‘3′ will be released digitally and physically as a limited edition vinyl on new indie label Distiller Records.

The Brightlights spent most of last year on the road gigging and despite having to juggle time off the road with studying for exams, still managed to notch up an impressive 200 plus shows, including an appearance at the V Festival and support slots with The Hoosiers, Scouting For Girls and The Rascals. Their limited edition debut single, ‘Inspired By’ was released last November and met with much critical acclaim, selling out within a matter of days.
,
The band met when they formed the midfield of a successful local youth football team. Indeed it was only a serious injury that stopped singer Leon going on to turn professional, such was his talent on the pitch. Luckily for him, and us, Leon is also blessed with a great voice.
,
The Brightlights will be touring again in the not too distant future, dates to be announced in due course.
Gearing up for the release of new album ‘Frontiers’, due out on May 26 via Small Town Records, it will be preceded by single ‘Ghosts On The Underground’ on May 19.
,
Produced by Hundred Reasons’ Larry Hibbitt, these offerings are intense and focused blasts of punk rock energy.
The Leicester quartet (made up of two sets of brothers) have enjoyed some breathtaking successes in their short life. ,

Culturally-diverse rock troupe DORP (made up of two from Cape Town, one from Paris and one home-grown Londoner!) head out on the road NEXT WEEK with fellow rockers My Awesome Compilation, spreading their unique brand of energetic and mind-bendingly awesome rock around the country !!
,
Their live shows are renowned for being high-sensory events, projecting fast-moving, technicolour, visual tracks onto large screens. Each song has its own onstage movie portraying its intent. Zombified images of the Queen and George W. are interspersed with caricatured celebrities and collages of other relevant worldly events and figures.
,
These guys are an experience not to be missed!
,
Now coming to the end of their tour of music colleges (last date in York on Saturday!), teaching the students the ways of the music biz during the day and how to rock out each night at the local venue, this armour-plated rock band need no time to rest before heading out on the road for another 11-date UK tour next week!
,
Having released last week new single ‘Rollercoaster’ to great critical acclaim (check out it’s accompanying video at www.myspace.com/dorp) the guys are gearing up to unleash their debut album, ‘Humans Being’, on the world on June 30. Already receiving a great response from all who’ve heard it, this release will plant them firmly on the map of rock n roll.

This year’s NASS music line-up is the best to date bringing in some big names in everything from rock to dance. PENDULUM will be headlining on Friday night keeping the dance heads entertained and Saturday will see LESS THAN JAKE do their only UK date of the summer supported by rock heavyweights, THE SUBWAYS

,

WITH A FULL DAY OF SKATEBOARD DISPLAYS AND COMPETITIONS THE MUSIC BEGINS FRIDAY AT 3.00pm

,

,

,
FRIDAY:
,
Pendulum
,
The drum and bass collective hailing from Perth, Australia have been in heavy rotation on the dance and commercial circuit for the past five years, reaching critical acclaim with their debut album ‘Hold Your Colour’ in 2007. Since then, with a series of headline spots at some of the biggest festivals in the world including Glastonbury and the infamous, Bugged Out under their belt, they make their debut on the Relentless NASS outdoor orbit stage for a storming full live drum n bass set.
,
Late Of The Pier
,
The four piece are no strangers to the likes of NME, MTV2 and Channel 4’s cult show Skins, taking new rave into a second season, ditching the glowsticks and reaching for the synthesizers to create heavy electro inspired indie with nods to everyone from The Cure to The Klaxons.
,
Does It Offend You, Yeah?
,
Hot off the back of a three month NME new music tour, Does It Offend You, Yeah? are already making big noises off the release of their debut album ‘You Have No Idea What Your Getting Yourself Into’ with everyone from Daft Punk to Bloc Party scrambling to remix their tracks.
,
Metronomy
,
Electro maestro Joseph Mount has been creating infectious beats under the name of Metronomy for nearly 10 years now. The band have been hailed by everyone from Mark Ronson to Zane Lowe as the pioneers and saviors of progressive electro. The band is set release their much anticipated second album this year, for now why not check out their debut Pip and Paine and a remix database that’s as long as a piece of string…
,
The Ghost Frequency
,
The London based five-piece are fresh off the NME Brats Tour, a 10 date jaunt around the UK which has seen them blow crowds away with their infectious, post-punk melodies. Fans of Hadouken! and Nine Black Alps will be no strangers to the bands energetic live shows and expectations are already riding high with the imminent release of their debut album.
,
Devils Gun
,
Devils Gun are by all accounts newcomers to the breakbeat and house scene, having only formed in 2006 the band are already making big impressions on industry heavyweights like XFM’s John Kennedy and the Trophy Twins who are predicting huge things for the Londoners.
,
We Smoke Fags
,
The three piece are already causing a stir with the likes of NME and Kerrang! already hailing them as one of the top acts to watch this year. Their unique sound is comparable to everyone from the likes of Blur to ska giants like the Specials.
,

Saturday:
,

Less Than Jake
,
The ska-punk five-piece veterans have been a household name on the skate and bmx scene for over 15 years spreading their sun-soaked Floridian sound worldwide, filling up stadiums, skateparks and just about every skate movie you can think of. Their headline show at NASS 08 will be their only UK date this summer and acts a welcome return to form after 6 consecutive sell-out shows in London last year.
,

The Subways
,
The infamous rock trio are still riding high off the back of their multi-million selling debut ‘Young For Eternity’ and have had unparallel success both in the UK and stateside, churning out chart toppers including ‘No Goodbye’s’ and ‘Rock n’ Roll Queen’. Headliners in their own right, the band have also gained major kudos over the past three years supporting everyone from the Kings of Leon to Kasabian.
,
Elliot Minor
,
The classically trained duo from Pocklington are no strangers to the live scene having supported everyone from McFly to Simple Plan. The band’s infamous blend of pop and punk has earned them an ironclad fan base as well as their own headline tour kicking off in March. NASS will be one of few festivals the band will be playing this year so be sure to check them out on Saturday’s bill.
,
Beat Union
,
Hailing from the suburbs of Birmingham, Beat Union have been playing under different guises since the tender age of 11. The bands take on vintage punk and pop-hooks have caught wind both sides of the Atlantic where the band will embark upon a mammoth two month stint on the Vans Warped tour. This is no mean feat as they will be one of few UK bands featuring alongside the likes of Reel Big Fish and Gym Class Heroes.

TestAmenT was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980’s. Originally formed as ‘Legacy’ in 1983 by founding members Eric Peterson (rhythm guitar), Derrick Ramirez (guitar) and Louie Clemente (drums), the line-up included vocalist Steve Souza and Greg Christian (bass). Ramirez was later replaced by wunderkind Alex Skolnick (lead guitar). Souza soon departed to join Exodus and suggested that the towering Chuck Billy take over as frontman. The band became known as ‘Testament’ 3 years later, while recording their debut album in Ithaca, New York.

“The Legacy” was a brutal intro in 1987, putting Testament at the forefront of the flourishing thrash metal scene. Following “Live At Eindhoven”, an EP recorded at Holland’s Dynamo Festival, “The New Order” in 1988 was well received producing one of the band’s most memorable classics “Disciples Of The Watch”. Next came the highly successful “Practice What You Preach” in 1989, then the release of “Souls more….

Of Black” in 1990, coinciding with the European ‘Clash Of The Titans’ tour with Slayer, Megadeth and Suicidal Tendencies.

After “The Ritual” in 1992, Skolnick, who was losing interest in pure metal, decided to pursue his interest in jazz and left the band. Clemente also departed. “Return To Apocalyptic City” in 1993 brought Glen Alvelais (guitar, ex- Forbidden) into the fold, and filling in temporarily for Clemente, Paul Bostaph (ex- Forbidden, Slayer). James Murphy (ex- Death, Obituary, Disincarnate, Cancer) soon stepped in for Alvelais on lead duties for “Low” in 1994, as John Tempesta (ex- Exodus) took over on the drums. Tempesta later left to join White Zombie, and was replaced by John Dette (ex- Evil Dead ). “Live At The Fillmore” was released in 1995, then Dette left in 1996 to join Slayer. “The Best Of Testament” was released in 1996.

“Demonic”, which was recorded in Testament’s Driftwood Studios, was released in 1997. James Murphy and Greg Christian having left the band were replaced by alumni Glen Alvelais and Derrick Ramirez (bass). Gene Hoglan (drums, ex- Death, Dark Angel) lent his percussion talents. “Signs Of Chaos”, a ‘best of’ disc of the band, was released in 1997.

Dave Lombardo (ex- Slayer, Grip, Inc.) was officially introduced into the band. James Murphy was brought back once again, and on bass, the legendary Steve DiGiorgio (ex- Death, Control Denied, Sadus). “The Gathering” was born in 1999. James Murphy abruptly departed, which was determined later for reasons due to a serious illness. Steve Smyth (ex-Vicious Rumors) jumped aboard as ‘touring guitarist’, later to be invited to stay on as a permanent member. Lombardo soon also left, not being able to commit, having other projects on his plate. In 2000, Jon Allen (drums, ex- Sadus) joined the band.

After the successful “Riding The Snake” world tour to promote “The Gathering”, vocalist Billy was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called ‘germ cell seminoma’ in March 2001. Despite his illness and grueling cancer treatments, Billy offered his ground shaking vocals to the re-recording of Testament classics on “First Strike Still Deadly” with a reunion of sorts, bringing back Alex Skolnick and John Tempesta to record on the disc.

Billy has since fully recovered. A busy touring schedule of the U.S. and Europe commenced in late 2002, through the summer of 2003. In 2004, guitarist Steve Smyth left the band to join Nevermore, and “Metal Mike” Chlasciak stepped in.

JYROJETS were personally chosen by Richard Ashcroft to open his show at Glasgow SECC in November 2006. For a band who had not even released a record at the time, this was amazing! Richard really likes the band and decided to give them a break. He is one of the band’s heroes and they had already bought tickets to the show, never dreaming that they would be actually be performing on that huge stage. The gig was a sell out and Jyrojets’ exceptional performance in front of 10,000 people won a public thank you and praise from Richard Ashcroft himself.

,

Jyrojets have only been together since 2004 but have already headlined the BBC Radio
Scotland stage at the Belladrum Festival, had airplay on Radio 1 and Radio Scotland,
supported The Kaiser Chiefs, had a track featured on a Channel 4 CD, played a UK tour,
festivals in Spain and Moscow with a live radio broadcast across Russia, and made history by becoming the first band from Inverness ever to sign a major record deal! They describe

,
their music as a heavy kick of Nirvana with Simon & Garfunkel harmonies, Beatles melodies and plenty of attitude.

,

When they were 14, while sheltering from the pissing rain in a bus stop, drinking a bottle of Buckfast and listening to Nirvana with one earphone each, Colin Fraser and Martin Stewart decided to start a band and become stars. The two set about writing songs and, after a few years of trying out various line-ups (some were good, most were shite), they finally hooked up with three like-minded musicians and Jyrojets were born. This is their debut release and features tracks from their forthcoming album.

,

After just a month of rehearsing 7 nights a week in the local ice rink, they recorded a demo and entered a competition for a chance to play at T in the Park. They were chosen to appear at King Tuts for the T-break heats – not bad for their first gig! They didn’t know the T-break organisers had sent their demo to Radio 1, so it was a bit of a shock to hear it on air.

,

Their big break came in 2005 when a demo track was chosen for inclusion on a CD featuring unsigned bands from Scotland, and distributed to the music industry by Music Week. Songphonic Records were excited by the demos and flew to Inverness to see a gig, and soon after a 4-album deal was signed. The band had regularly been told they would never get a deal unless they moved out of the Highlands, but they have proved anything is possible if you have the talent.

,

SANTA MONICA, CA – Not only is multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park featured on the first single from acclaimed hip-hop innovator Busta Rhymes’ new album, but the band ’s co-lead vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda will also appear in the song’s performance video. “We Made It,” directed by Chris Robinson, was shot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 15. Photos from the video shoot can be found on Mike Shinoda’s website - http://www.mikeshinoda.com/photos.

The intriguing culture-mashing collaboration reflects the theme of “We Made It.” Says Rhymes of the song: “It ain’t just about the ‘hood, it ain’t just about the suburbs, it’s about everybody. This is one of those songs that can’t be described better than touching the souls of the common people.”

“We Made It,” produced by Cool and Dre, with additional production by Mike Shinoda, and its video will be released in May, prior to the debut of Rhymes’ eighth studio album, Blessed (Flipmode/Aftermath/Interscope), on June 17.

,

Rhymes will also join Linkin Park for several spot dates on their Projekt Revolution tour this summer.

,

Busta Rhymes’ previous album, 2006’s The Big Bang, his first for Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, became the first #1 Pop album of his career, and fourth #1 R&B/Hip-hop album. Spinning off the Top 20 Pop hit “Touch It,” The Big Bang claimed the top spot in its first week and went gold. The album followed his gold It Ain’t Safe No More. The Brooklyn-born, Long Island-raised Busta Rhymes (named by Chuck D of Public Enemy) launched his solo career in 1996 with the platinum #1 R&B/Hip-hop The Coming and its Top 10 platinum “Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check.” Called “the most idiosyncratic personality in rap and possessor of its most recognizable delivery, a halting, ragga-inspired style with incredible complexity, inventiveness, and humor” (All Music Guide), Rhymes followed with three more platinum albums: When Disaster Strikes (#1 R&B/Hip-hop), Extinction Level Event (The Final World Front) (#2 R&B/Hip-hop), Anarchy (#1 R&B/Hip-hop) and Genesis (#2 R&B/Hip-hop), and their gold Top 10 Pop hits “Dangerous,” “Turn It Up” and “What’s It Gonna Be.”

,

While “We Made It” marks Rhymes’ first teaming with a rock band, Linkin Park previously crossed genres when the group partnered with Jay-Z in 2004 for the platinum mash-up Collision Course, a #1 Pop album that featured the digital gold, Grammy winning track “Numb/Encore.”

,

Linkin Park (vocalist Chester Bennington, drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and vocalist Mike Shinoda) has been touring in support of its double platinum album Minutes To Midnight and new hit single “Given Up.” The album, one of the highest-debuting discs of 2007 and the seventh best-selling album of the year, has already spawned three Top 10 hits (“Bleed It Out,” “What I’ve Done,” “Shadow Of The Day”), amplifying an already illustrious career. Since arriving in 2000, Linkin Park has won two Grammy Awards (Best Hard Rock Performance with their hit single “Crawling” and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Jay-Z for the aforementioned “Numb/Encore”), sold more than 45 million albums worldwide (its diamond-certified debut Hybrid Theory has sold more than 18 million copies), and garnered an international fanbase. The band recently announced the highly anticipated lineup for Projekt Revolution 2008 (Review of LPunderground-2007)
