Seth Lakeman- the West Country born singer songwriter credited with taking folk to a new audience with his rhythmic, urgent performances and lyrically engrossing albums- is set to take his highly touted live show on the road in October for his largest headline tour to date.
,

Seth’s critically acclaimed third album ‘Poor Man’s Heaven’ charted at number 8 in the UK on it’s release earlier this year, an unprecedented achievement for a so-called ‘folk inspired’ artist. Produced in large part by Seth’s brother and fellow band member, Sean Lakeman, ‘Poor Man’s Heaven’ (out now on Relentless) represents a progression for Seth’s sound – while remaining firmly rooted in folk, it moves from a more acoustic-based feel to a fuller, rockier sound, underpinned as ever by emotive lyrics and story telling, this time with a strong coastal theme. It is also the closest representation on record of Seth’s live show yet, capturing the rhythmic, raw energy seldom seen in any other acoustic band.

,
Seth plays the following dates:

,

October

22nd Wolverhampton, Wulfrun

23rd Liverpool Academy

24th Lincoln, Engine Shed

25th Northampton Roadmender

26th Cambridge, Junction

28th Oxford Academy

29th Bristol Academy

30th Aberdeen, Lemon Tree

31st Dundee Fat Sams

,

November

1st Glasgow QMU

2nd Norwich Waterfront

4th Newcastle Academy

5th Sheffield Leadmill

6th London Shepherds Bush

7th Portsmouth Pyramid

8th Manchester Academy

Welsh rockers FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND released ‘Memory And Humanity’, their eagerly anticipated fourth album, this Monday via their label, Join Us Records. It was preceded by the ‘Kicking And Screaming’ (review) single on Sept 29.

 ,

One of the UK’s most successful rock acts, Funeral For A Friend have notched up a staggering number of successes during their illustrious five year career. Three gold selling albums. Nine Top 20 singles. Half a decade of global touring taking in Singapore, Thailand, Australasia, Japan, America and every corner of Europe. Twenty plus magazine front covers in the UK. Headlining the NME Awards tour in 2005. Supporting the likes of Iron Maiden, Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance. Selling out the 8,000 tickets for an Alexandra Palace show in a heartbeat. Winning BT Digital Artist of the Year in 2007.

 ,

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND are truly a phenomenon.

,

Yesterday (exactly five years to the day that their debut record ‘Casually Dressed and Deep In Conversation’ hit the shelves!) they released their fourth album, ‘Memory And Humanity’. Produced by Romesh Dodangoda at Longwave Studios, Cardiff, it clearly demonstrates the bands current explosive form.

 ,

Featuring thirteen new tracks, ‘Memory And Humanity’ draws fire from the muscular intensity of their earlier material and melds it seamlessly to the melodic intelligence of latter albums ‘Hours’ and ‘Tales Don’t Tell Themselves’.  This album shows the band to be as incisively relevant as ever.

 ,

,

“In my opinion this is the most exciting and eclectic touring lineup we’ve ever put together,” explains Ryan Richards (Drums). “Every band brings something extra to the evening and will definitely bring the best out of us and keep us on our toes. We’re going to have to limit ourselves to how many brand new songs we’re going to play I think, otherwise we might get carried away and play the whole thing. It’s just an album full of songs that are begging to be unleashed upon our lovely fans.”
