1.) New Imprint For Cherry Red; Eclectic Discs
In 2003 an innovative reissue label emerged onto the British catalogue scene that quickly established an enviable reputation for excellence and top quality reissues in the progressive, psychedelic and classic rock genres; Eclectic Discs.
The imprint was conceived by respected reissue consultant Mark Powell, who has worked and continues to work on many well received reissues for major labels such as EMI Records, Universal Music, Sony BMG and Sanctuary Music, covering catalogue revamps by artists such as BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST, JACK BRUCE, CARAVAN, CAMEL, EMERSON LAKE & PALMER, GONG, PETER HAMMILL, STEVE HILLAGE, THE MOODY BLUES, PINK FAIRIES, THE STRAWBS, VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR
etc.
Now, the people behind Eclectic Discs have become Eclectic 2, a new
identity, but still a home for good music with the emphasis on quality
packaged and remastered catalogue reissues and inspiring new works from
artists with a history and heritage. Eclectic 2 is a part of a new chapter in the evolution of the Eclectic identity, but now as part of the Cherry Red group of labels.
The first releases on Eclectic 2 will appear in September 2007 and will
feature titles by Rare Bird (”Rare Bird” and “As Your Mind Flies By”), Egg (”The Civil Surface”), Gong leader Daevid Allen (”Good Morning”), Paladin (”Paladin” and “Charge”), Marsupilami (”Arena”), Big Sleep (”Bluebell Wood”) and a 2CD anthology by British progressive jazz rock outfit Jonesy (”Masquerades”) covering the band’s entire recorded output for the Dawn label. Most of these releases will feature previously unreleased bonus material. In addition the label will be releasing frontline products in the form of the first ever DVD and a new live album recorded by John Lees’ Barclay James Harvest at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London in November 2006. Turn your ears on to Eclectic 2!
