London 19 June 2007. As if using a combination of different mediums in his live stage show wasn’t enough, “reborn Gothic Elvis” (NME) and glam-rock music hall performer/human installation contraption MR SOLO (www.myspace.com/mistersolo) is proud to introduce yet another art form into his repertoire, in the form of nORMAN wISDOM, a fanzine-based exhibition collaboration between himself and Pop Art (www.popartlondon.co.uk).

A collection of paintings, photos, cinema projections and bird-boxes, which reflect the self-consciously iconographic image of MR SOLO and explore the strange collision of vulnerability and invincibility it embodies, the exhibition will also include popArtidol performances on the karaoke stage, which MR SOLO himself will take for a (musical) performance at around 8 in the evening.

“When I began writing and performing songs the words and images seemed to constantly intermingle, and what made a good chorus could equally make an exciting painting,” says MR SOLO of his latest endeavour. “Pretending to be a pop star and the earthly conduit for a dead magician eventually lead me through the gates of the Emerald City, where I resolutely failed to ignore the man behind the curtain. Trite as it may seem, I am now clicking my heels together and relearning the joy of channelling ideas from an outside source.”
