He’s been creeping out the music world since 1980, prior to joining industrial forefathers SPK. By the time our man started scoring films like 1994’s The Crow, he’d already worked with English Experimental luminaries Nurse With Wound, Current 93 and (members of ) Coil. His 1990 album ‘Heresy’ gave birth to the genre known as “dark ambient”…

 ,

Featuring guest shots from Adam Jones (Tool), Aaron Turner (Isis) and Buzz Osborne (Melvins), LUSTMORD’s latest collection of night terrors and Lynch-ian atmospherics, ‘OTHER’ is set for release on September 1st through Hydra Head Records.

 ,

A SHORT HISTORY:

 ,

Begun January 1980 following encouragement and support to do so by members of Throbbing Gristle and SPK. Various now legendary live performances conducted in 1980-81 as unofficial/unannounced “support” for various name headline acts. Usually with chaotic and/or violent conclusions (happy days). Use of diverse recording sources such as caves, crypts, catacombs, car crashes and cosmological activity.

 ,

In the 1980’s was a member of SPK, one of the most influential groups of the original industrial genre. From 1985 until 1999 owned and managed the label Side Effects with releases worldwide including SPK and Laibach. In the late 1980’s consultant for Mute Records, assisting in the establishment of their subsidiary label The Grey Area. Compiled a four volume CD collection of Throbbing Gristle live, and oversaw releases by Throbbing Gristle, SPK and Monte Cazazza.

 ,

Freelance Sound Designer from 1993 to present, including numerous credits of film, games and commercials. Motion picture credits include over forty movies including The Crow and Underworld, with many number one box office hits.

 ,

Music Sound Design for games, including FarCry Instincts, Unreal Tournament III and Assassin’s Creed. Sound design for commercials include Nike, Bud Light, Universal Studios and Gatorade. Wrote the music for the Greg Hale (Blair Witch Project) series In Search Of. Created the music & sound design for the first tech demo showing the Playstation 3 capabilities (demo created by Nvidia).

 ,

The Lustmord album ‘Heresy’ gave birth to the genre known as “dark ambient”. Collaborated and toured with Clock DVA.

 ,

Commissioned to perform a live accompaniment to the first public ritual by The Church of Satan as part of their 40th anniversary on 6/6/06 – also the first live Lustmord performance in 25 years

And they said it couldn’t be done. Then again, “they” say a lot of things, don’t they? And in this case, when they implied, insinuated or outright insisted that Boston rock freewheelers Clouds couldn’t possibly get any more awesome, they - in the sadly timeless words of the soon-to-be ex-President of the USA - severely misunderestimated our immensely talented and totally gregarious homeboys. And so it follows that Clouds have followed up last year’s ‘Legendary Demo’ with an even bigger, better and more brilliant slab of hot rock action.

 ,

Led by the estimable and inimitable Captain Adam McGrath (Cave In) and set for release on September 1st, this latest offering ‘We Are Above You’ delivers all the anthemic choruses, white hot licks and psychedelic grandeur that anyone could ever possibly hope to cram into a single album made by mere mortals.

 ,

The addition of new bassist, Johnny Coolbreeze (Octave Museum, Pet Genius) should also not be understated. Johnny lends his angelic voice to this new batch of compositions, meaning that already blown minds should prepare to be officially re-blown.

 ,

The members of Clouds have extensive touring and playing experience, and it’s none more clear when you see the band live. Having recently brought the house down at the Hydra Head showcase at SXSW, future touring plans are currently in the works and soon to be announced.

,
I came across this metal compilation album recently the title is ‘Hammer” and is packed with some great bands all who are or have
been on the US label ‘Lifeforce records’

Seth Lakeman, the west country born singer and songwriter credited with bringing folk music to a whole new audience, has announced he is playing a one-off album launch gig in Cornwall on June 25th, with all profits going to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

,

The follow up to 2006’s gold selling ‘Freedom Fields’, Seth’s new album, ‘Poor Man’s Heaven’, is released on the Relentless label on June 30th. The album has a strong coastal lyrical theme throughout, with one of it’s pivotal tracks, ‘Solomon Browne’, recounting the real-life story of the ill-fated Penlee lifeboat of the same name, which was lost in 1981 while trying to rescue the crew of the shipwrecked Union Star coaster.

,

Seth comments of the forthcoming gig:

,

“I wanted to try to do something positive in launching the “Poor Man’s Heaven” album, rather than just another gig - and raising money for the RNLI felt appropriate as the new album has such a strong coastal theme. Hopefully it’ll be a great gig and we’ll raise some funds for this fantastic charity”

,

The gig will take place in the idyllic beach side setting of The Watering Hole venue on Perranporth beach. Dave Nicoll, RNLI Area Fundraising Manager For Cornwall says: -

,

‘We are delighted Seth has chosen the RNLI to be the recipient charity of his concert being held to launch his new album. Seth’s poignant song about the loss of the Solomon Browne brings home the selfless but vital, lifesaving work the RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews and RNLI lifeguards do around the coast.

,

The funds raised from this concert will go towards the training of RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews at 35 lifeboat stations and RNLI lifeguards on 88 beaches, in the South West. Seth’s choice of venue, on Perranporth beach, is significant as one of the most popular RNLI lifeguarded beaches.’

In the filthy dark streets of

Stockholm in the year of our lord 2004, two noble men of the royal court accidentally bumped into each other, one of them Tomas, also known as the non believer, meets the mighty Jonas Wigstad. They began to explore the lustful joy of Rock ‘n Roll once again. Later the I drummer Richard Bang joined the evil duet and together they formed the abnormal fetus of Ground’ Mower, while God was having his lunch break. ,

The three voiceless instruments where desperately looking for a voice that could put all the pieces UThe answer to their call happened to be the best thinking potent singer north of the

Midasuno’s album opener of 2007’s “Songs In The Key Of Fuck” (5/5 BBC Online, 41(’s KERRANG!, 4/5 The FLY Magazine, 8/10 Rock Sound) Sister Temptation, comes as the band’s first release of 2008. Following previous single (Chosen by Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway as Rock Sound Magazine’s ‘Single of the Month’ “Don’t Drive (Faster Than VourAngel Can Fly), the track encapsulates the Midasuno blueprint Big riffs, bigger choruses and more ideas in 4 minutes than most bands achieve over the space of an album. ,

Fusing rock with elements of electronica (with tongue very firmly in cheek), the song has already become a firm live favourite. The last song written for ‘Songs…”, Sister Temptation’ has ‘single’ written all over it twisting and turning from dark, groove-heavy guitar work to throbbing synths, culminating in what is simply of the biggest choruses you’ll hear this year. The songs’ lyrical content comments on the guilt of infidelities and acts of a capriciousness nature, which, coming from a seemingly red-blooded ‘rock’ band, is quite an anti-rock sentiment to contemplate. It’s this sort of juxtaposition that make Midasuno so refreshing and so vital.

,

‘Sister Temptation’s’ accompanying video was filmed live at The Civic in Mexborough in February 2008, during Midasuno’s stint as main support on Brigade’s ‘Shortcuts’ single tour. The band intend to undertake an extensive summer touring schedule

Rob da Bank announces Fancy Dress Theme for Bestival 2008…

.
‘30,000 Freaks Under The Sea’
… calling all Mermaids, Giant Squid, Sharks and Deep-Sea Divers!

,Forget the question of just who will finally grab the US Democrat nomination, the real question on the lips of people in the know in recent weeks has been “What the heck is Rob da Bank going to announce as the fancy dress theme for Bestival 2008″?
,
And now we can exclusively reveal the answer to be…
,30,000 FREAKS UNDER THE SEA!
,
Yep – taking a lead from legendary author Jules Verne’s classic tome 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, we can now announce that we are taking it even deeper… 30,000 party people will be deep sea skiving in their best underwater fancy-dress garb at Bestival on the Isle of Wight this September.

Bestival head-honcho Rob da Bank said today :
,
“We wracked our collective brains ‘til they turned to custard and eventually came up with ‘30,000 FREAKS UNDER THE SEA’ - essentially another open-ended theme open to abuse and many different angles which we hope you’ll follow!  This year we’ll do a night parade as well as daytime one, so make sure you light up bright - calling all pesky squids, little urchins, deep sea divers and Yellow Submarines!”
,
And if you need a wee bit of help in coming up with the perfect sub-aquatic costume this year, why not take a trip to the ever-helpful Jokers’ Masquerade website…
,
Following their successful sponsorship of last year’s Bestival FM radio-station, the lovely people at Jokers’ Masquerade have announced that they will be partnering up with Bestival once again.  Jokers’ Masquerade are the perfect fancy dress solution for Bestival-goers everywhere, offering over 10,000 costumes to choose from securely online, including many outfits especially available to inspire you for this year’s ‘30,000 Freaks Under The Sea’ theme.

Announce New Album, Life… The Best Game In Town, out June 30th on Hydra Head plus UK tour with Oxbow!
,
After making their auspicious but notoriously underexposed debut with 1994’s My Love Is Higher Than Your Assessment Of What My Love Could Be, Athens (GA) dirge lords Harvey Milk recorded two more full-lengths (1995’s Courtesy And Good Will Towards Men and 1997’s The Pleaser) before going tits up in 1998 in a fit of nuptials and child-rearing.

,
Reintroduced to the underground at large through reissues, live DVDs and whatnot, The Milk reformed to unleash Special Wishes upon the feverishly lactating public, which has been lactating feverishly ever since. Which is to say that the Milk — as they themselves like to say—have “not” been “canceled due to lack of interest yet.”
,
Fast forward to the here and, like, now, and Harvey Milk are celebrating their own renaissance by lauding the virtues of The Best Game In Town. Spearheaded by the alternately burly and angelic vocal stylings of Milk mastermind Creston Spiers, The Best Game In Town. is both tumultuous and grueling, resonating with the glorious slow-motion radiance of Total Dirge Power. In layman’s terms: Yet another classic. Oh, and did we mention that they’ve since been joined by Thrones legend Joe Preston? Well, they totally have.

The band are just finished recording an album as a follow up to 2005’s “So Ventura” EP which spawned the single ‘I Need A Co-Pilot’, which was featured in the smash hit, gangster-iffic XBOX 360 game ‘Saints Row’. So, ‘I Need A Co-Pilot’ randomly smacks you in the face as you drive through the game and knock down old people. It’s great. A year on from its release, ‘Saints Row’ has sold nearly 1,500,000 copies. National radio picked upon “I Need A Co-Pilot”, with dozens of DJ’s around the UK and Europe spinning the single ,

The debut 12 track album TRUE NOVELLA is released worldwide through Casket Music in 2008. The songs are a selected mix of favourite oldies that have been yivefl a reworking, arid new songs, most of which haven’t ever been played live. Catchy and anthemic, the tunes will be dancing around your head for days

SATYRICON are set to release a new 5-track EP entitled ‘My Skin Is Cold’ on 2nd June… Offering the first taste of new Satyricon material in over two years, the new EP also includes two tracks - ‘Live Through Me’ and ‘Existential Fear-Questions’ - that were excluded from 2002’s ‘Volcano’ album because, according to Satyr, “they did not fit with the flow of the album, even though they are maybe even better than some of the songs that did make it on there”. Closing with two extraordinary live tracks ‘Mother North’ and ‘Repined Bastard Nation’ - recorded at Gjallahorn during the band’s triumphant show with musicians from the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in November 2006, this is an essential collection of treasures from the Satyricon vault that should keep die-hard fans satisfied until the completion and release of the band’s forthcoming seventh full-length album which is due for release via Roadrunner on November. ,

“You could say that the new song is an indication of what the album will sound like, but it is not the whole story,” states Satyr. “The new songs are coming out really big, really grand. Some need time to crawl under your skin and others, they’ll strangle you from the first bar. It’s not operatic or theatrical, but it comes across as huge. It sounds like a journey. It’s emotional, it’s atmospheric, it’s grand and it’s epic. It’s overwhelming.” ,Meanwhile, Satyricon are currently rehearsing for the summer festival circuit in Europe, although it’ll be later in the year before we see them in the UK. Stay tuned for more album and tour news as we get it.

5/24/08 - Algonquin, IL - ‘A Box and a Word’ and ‘Duologue’ bring the number of CD releases in the past year to four, as Random Touch continue in their quest to take Random Touchimprovisation to new levels.  Relying as always on the magic of invitation and serendipity, they use beauty, tension and darkness to create cinematic music that touches and transcends the worlds of rock, jazz and 20th century classical music.

,

“One consequence of our prolific output is that you are hearing virtually pure improvisation.  The urge to perform post-production surgery is quickly extinguished when there are hundreds of recordings waiting in the wings.  The last time we dubbed a track was five CDs ago.   Perhaps when I’m 90 I’ll revisit some of these outtakes.” - Christopher Brown, drummer

,

“The thing about Random Touch that I like is the effect of just a sound, a sound that will get right into your bloodstream. It starts effecting your emotions.  It’s just magic.” - James Day, keyboardist

,

“Unlike traditional musicians who seek to hone their skills to a point of utter control, we veer away when technique would make us too predictable. We know we need freshness and a sense of fun, and our pursuit of these inevitably leads to using instruments, genres and every day objects in ways that were never intended. When we play we don’t know where we are going or how we are getting there. Discovering the answers to these questions, in real time, is pure musical joy.” - Christopher Brown

,

You can sense the spirit of Can, Frank Zappa, Sun Ra and King Crimson, but the music of Random Touch lies outside of simple categories or comparisons. Their music appears sourced from the mythic plane where the collective consciousness of the whole and the individual unconscious become one. The result is dreamy, hypnotic, and otherworldly; it is music that seems to float, free of gravity, continuously on the verge of cohesion and collapse.

,

Random Touch founders Christopher Brown and James Day have an old and synergistic relationship that began with collaborations in high school (an original rock opera) and college (commissioned multi-media piece Broken Glass among others). Brown and Day first collaborated with member Scott Hamill (guitar) in 1978 and member Matthew Ebbin (camera) in 1998. In addition to music, the visual arts have been an integral part of their work over the years. To Random Touch they are all vibration. Whether videotaping the tight, electric frequency of the color violet or recording the long and lazy thrum of a hammered steel girder, it is all raw material, ready for the alchemy of transmutation.

,

On June 6, 2008 their ninth and tenth works, ‘Duologue’ and ‘A Box and a Word,’ will be released.  A journey through beauty, tension and darkness awaits the listener. Some may consider the 57-minute ‘A Box and a Word’ their most ear-friendly and personal release to date. Listen as Scott Hamill, James Day and Christopher Brown converge once again to explore and flesh out the unfamiliar.

,

Random Touch - ‘Duologue’ and ‘A Box and a Word’ will be available from CD Baby, Amazon.com and the band’s official website.

The Arusha Accord release the ‘Nightmares Of The Ocean’ EP on Monday 14th July 2008, through Basick Records.
,
Nearly four years ago, at the beginning of 2005, the six-headed monster now known as The Arusha Accord began work on a musical project. Despite having no solid blueprint, the band drew its initial inspiration from the likes of Sikth, Dillinger Escape Plan and Tool, in particular the chaotic variations, speed and complex time signatures that each had to offer respectively.
,
Two years later, in the November of 2007, their project came of age and broke out into the UK’s flourishing metal scene. In doing so, the band caused a stir worthy of even the most highly rated foreign import.
,
Rising UK independent label, Basick Records, home to fellow UK metallers Fell Silent, were suitably impressed and immediately offered the band a deal. A few months later and the ‘Nightmares Of The Ocean’ EP was recorded with John Mitchell (Funeral For A Friend, Enter Shikari) at Outhouse Studios in the band’s hometown of Reading.
,
As bassist, Luke Williams explains, ‘Nightmares Of The Ocean’ “symbolises the end of a huge musical journey for us. It gives us closure on an intense and turbulent three-year project, during which time we’ve easily written an albums worth of material without ever really being satisfied with what was being created. So we’ve chopped, changed, linked and sculpted everything into just these five tracks and we couldn’t be happier with the result.”
,
Having now shared stages with the likes of Architects, Johnny Truant and Your Demise, as well as fans in their idols, Sikth and Dillinger Escape Plan, The Arusha Accord are, themselves becoming a popular name in the UK’s underground and with the release of ‘Nightmares Of The Ocean’ imminent, things are about to get seriously heavy, in every sense of the word.
,
“To us, this EP is the proof that all our determination and hard work over this difficult period has finally paid off. There have been so many times when all this has seemed a million miles away,” Williams concludes.

American Deathcore heroes WHITECHAPEL have finished recordings for their second album ‘This Is Exile’!

,

WhitechapelWHITECHAPEL is one of the leading forces in this new genre as they can count on the most loyal fanbase one could wish for, only second in size to that of the leaders of  the scene, Job For A Cowboy. Over 2.1 million plays on MySpace and over 400,000 on lastfm.com speak for themselves, just as their excellent debut album “The Somatic Defilement“, which already hinted at what this triple guitar attack is capable of in the future.

,

Their live shows are state of the art. Their standing in the underground scene is undisputed, as proved by a completely sold-out UK tour in August 2007. For November 2008 there is a new European tour already booked, which should establish WHITECHAPEL with their upcoming smasher ‘This is Exile’ as leaders of the “New X-treme“.

,

In the studio the band was aided by an experienced and prominent team. Jonny Fay (The Red Chord) recorded the album, while Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall) handled the mix. The artwork was done by Colin Marks, who has already worked with big names such as Strapping Young Lad and Aborted.

,

‘This is Exile’ is an early highlight of 2008 by a young, spontaneous and technically proficient band, delivering a tidal wave of aggressive music! Death metal and hardcore fans watch out! Here come your new heroes!

,

Tracklisting ‘This is Exile’:

1 Father Of Lies
2 This Is Exile
3 Possession
4 To All That Are Dead
5 Exalt
6 Somatically Incorrect
7 Death Becomes Him
8 Deamon (The Procreated)
9 Eternal Refuge
10 Of Legions

will be released the 11th of July (G/A/CH/I) / 14th of July (rest of Europe)!

From the start, AGNOSTIC FRONT released a catalogue of fast and violent punk tunes consisting of distinctive and aggressive drumming, bass work, and a non-stop barrage of chaotic shouting. AGNOSTIC FRONT’s uncontrollable drumming and fuming guitars fill every minute like an onrushing storm of flailing limbs and incinerating transistors. The heavier paced balance between the energy and discipline of their earlier punk roots strikes a taut and vivid rock barrage that moshes in close formation. “It’s social politics,” Roger states. “The day-to-day reality of waking up, reading the newspaper, and walking around the neighborhood. It’s a hard stare on why the world is still one fucked-up place, and we tackle the very real shit that’s going down: gentrification’s running rampant, street justice, world destruction, working wages, and backs are still being stabbed.”
Long outliving their now-legendary contemporaries like Minor Threat, SSD, Dead Kennedys and Black Flag, AGNOSTIC FRONT could easily live off their laurels, but their fight is yet over! Throughout their storied history, AGNOSTIC FRONT have been anything but a ravishing group of individuals living prosperously and content. In fact, the band is more akin to have experienced growing up in adverse streets, undergoing arduous times, serving time in prison, become inflicted with murdered friends, the list would go on perpetually. But while there are definite vestiges of the past affecting them, they manage to continue and expose the conflicts they had to undergo in a compellingly evocative approach by relating it to their views of the world today.
AGNOSTIC FRONT continues to be living embodiment that “hardcore for life” isn’t an empty slogan or a musical dead end. No one is born with tattoos. No one’s born hardcore. But when the ink or the music sets in, you’re changed. Their latest offering reaffirms that AGNOSTIC FRONT as a band, still operates like a musical razor blade. Regardless of their history, the proof is simple: AGNOSTIC FRONT’s anthems are hard, cutting, and the remarkable music continues to broaden with every release. “We support UNITY! We despise ignorance and hatred within our scene. The only people we should be at war with is those who oppress us, not with each other. Unite! Fight the system! Not ourselves! Believe – Hardcore!”
