by on Jun.20, 2007, under Metal Music News

Helgrind have a four track EP ready for release on the 9th July this will be the fore runner to a New album later in the year titled “Religious Persecution”.

Helgrind’s aim is to be one of the most distinctive, influential and extreme UK thrash metal bands. Their graphic lyrics deal with everything from death and dismemberment to the horrors of life and hell. Helgrind deliver full-throttle rhythms with an aggression reminiscent of the early days of their biggest influence Slayer. A Helgrind show is not for the feint hearted as they cause mayhem in the pit with their no-nonsense brutal pounding speed.

Helgrind was formed in December 2003 by bass/vocalist Paul Nelson and the aptly named guitarist Jon Sick originally as three-piece, they set to work on material for their debut recording.

In November 2004, Helgrind recorded their first full album Denial, an album that crosses between Thrash, Death and Black Metal with a diverse melodic undertow, vengeful, hate filled lyrics that are both thought provoking and disturbing and released the album in January 2005.

A quick drummer change which brought a more brutal edge to the band and the addition of guitarist Jim Hunt in the autumn of 2005 added an extra edge to the music, which the band felt, was missing as a 3 piece.

In the summer of 2006, Simon Ellis replaced Jon Sick and Sy Thoms was replaced by Alex Budge, giving the band a new exciting feel and more powerful edge.

Jim Hunt and Paul Nelson worked on a new recording called “Religious Persecution”, from which four tracks were chosen to be on the “Fallen Prophet” EP.

Fallen Prophet is the second studio recording for the band, it is the follow up to “Denial” and is a more aggressive offering than the previous release. Fallen Prophet shows a maturity in composition and an intensity never heard before from the band. The album “Religious Persecution” is due to be recorded late 2007
