Black Sabbath Bring out The Best Of Sabbath

by on May.12, 2009, under Metal Music News

Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, Ozzy Osbourne – four names that resonate throughout Rock’s recorded history as clear and sublime as the bell that tolls the opening to the bands eponymous debut album from 1970.

,

Collectively, they formed Black Sabbath and forged the most haunting and hypnotic rock sound of all time. From humble beginnings, the Birmingham quartet enslaved the minds and souls of millions of rock fans around the world and continue to do so into the new millennium. The musical genre they created inspired countless musicians and spawned countless bands, all of which have attempted to emulate the Heavy Metal originators. Few have come close to rival the uniquely powerful musical make-up of the all powerful Black Sabbath.

,

Sabbath’s massive influence on modern music cannot be underestimated. VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock ranked them second, behind only Led Zeppelin, in importance and influence. Black Sabbath have sold multiple million albums worldwide to date.

,
“The Best Of Black Sabbath” is a 14 track collection of classic tracks from across the bands first eight albums – including tracks from 1970’s debut “Black Sabbath” and follow up “Paranoid”, 1971’s “Master Of Reality”, 1972’s “Volume 4”, 1973’s “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and 1978’s “Never Say Die”. The album brings some of the best loved and most influential rock songs of all time together on one album – including such classics as “Paranoid”, “Iron Man”, “Black Sabbath”, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, “War Pigs” and the original version of “Changes” (a song that went on to become a UK No1 in 2003 when re-recorded by Kelly Osbourne feat Ozzy Osbourne). “The Best Of Black Sabbath” is a must have for any self respecting music fan…

GOD DETHRONED mainman Heni Sattler posts studio update!

by on Dec.07, 2008, under Metal Music News

God DethronedDutch Death Metal pioneers GOD DETHRONED entered Soundlodge studios in Germany in October with producer Jörg Uken to begin recording its new album, ‘Passiondale’, for an April 2009 release via Metal Blade Records.
Passiondale’ will be a concept album about World War I.

,

Songtitles set to appear on the CD are as follows:
1. Under A Darkening Sky
2. Behind Enemy Lines
3. Drowning in Mud
4. No-Man’s Land
5. Passiondale
6. Poison Fog
7. Fallen Empires
8. Artifacts of the Great War
9. No Survivors

,

Guitarist/vocalist Henri Sattler has issued the following update: “Rhythm guitars, bass and lead guitars are all finished now. We took some time off from the studio to prepare some new things for us, like different bass lines, harmonies and other stuff we haven’t done like this before.
Producer Jörg Uken learned some new things when it came down to my unconventional way of composing harmony lines. One day we would record a melody line and the harmony just on the clicktrack to put it into the song later. He goes, ‘This already sounds out of tune like this and we haven’t even put it in the music yet.’ I go, ‘Just put it in the music, Jörg.” It was nice to see this big question mark above his head when we checked out the result. It sounded just great.”

,

“You can check that out yourself when our album comes out somewhere in April next year.
Right now I’m finishing my lyrics and I already screamed my lungs out on a few tracks. Actually, now I’m writing the lyrics for the album, I realize how intensely sick this war was. World War I had the biggest amounts of casualties during a single battle than any other war in history. I’ve been stunned quite a few times when I did research for my lyrics. Anyway, vocals should be ready by the end of next week.

,

Then last but not least, we also started to work with keyboard player Danny Servaes again. He also played keyboards on the ‘Grand Grimoire’ and ‘Bloody Blasphemy’ albums. He just knows what to play to our songs and as promised our new album will go back to those old times, sound- and song-wise.”
,
‘Passiondale’ is scheduled for release in April of 2009 via Metal Blade Records!

Great news for BISON B.C. since they are getting what every band dreams of. A custom beer!

by on Dec.07, 2008, under Metal Music News

“We wanna say a huge thanks to our bros over at Phillips Brewery on Vancouver Island for making a dream come true. We think this is pretty fucking rad, and apparently so does the Georgia Straight, check it out….”
,
By Adrian Mack
Publish Date: December 4, 2008
Since it’s still not strictly legal to hand out chunks of Red Lebanese to the public, organizers came up with the next best thing to promote local metal maniacs Bison b.c.’s appearance at this week’s Transmission Conference. For one night only, Bison Beer will be served when the band joins the bill at the former Storyeum building (151 Cordova Street) on Friday (December 5).
,
According to Matt Phillips, CEO of Victoria’s Phillips Brewing Company, it was producer Tyl van Toorn’s idea. “I don’t know how serious it was,” Phillips told the Straight, “but I guess there were some negotiations going on to get them to play, and Tyl said, ‘We’ll get a beer done for you.’ ” The price was right for the band, and Phillips Brewing got the job of relabelling its popular Phoenix Gold lager with amended cover artwork from Bison b.c.’s Quiet Earth album. Not that any such precautions are needed, but the label also reads “Please Don’t Throw Me At the Stage.”
,
Phillips said that the company is producing “about 30 dozen cases” of Bison Beer, but wouldn’t say how many were going straight to singer-guitarist James Farwell and his cohorts. “There’s some stuff that I just don’t know if I can disclose,” he said.

my_silent_wake_cover_web.jpg

MY SILENT WAKE’s third album takes another strong step forward in the band’s quest to blend unique melodies with strong and memorable arrangements without forsaking the wall of sound for which they are already well-known.  A Garland of Tears is easily MY SILENT WAKE’s strongest album to date and is one of the freshest releases in the death / doom scene in quite some time.  Fans of My Dying Bride, Candlemass, Trouble, Paramaecium, Dead Can Dance, and all self-respecting fans of death, doom, gothic, metal, or just great heavy music owe it to themselves to pick up this fantastic release.
